This is a question I thought would benefit a lot of people if I answer them. To me, this question is a bit of a conundrum, because yes, they are asian, but we don’t think of them as asian. For one, they don’t follow a lot of the guidelines in How to Be Asian. They don’t drink tea, they don’t draw, they don’t eat ramen. They don’t read anime. They don’t even speak the same way we do. The “authentic” asian countries, such as China, Japan, Korea, Thailand, etc. all have similar languages. But Indians didn’t jump on the Chinese train and ignored it. However, Chinese were the ones that took Buddhism from India. A lot of things that influence “asianism” originated from India, but we don’t recognize them. Indians have the same determination as authentic asians (hereby known as AAs) and even AAs eat curry.
So, we can only describe Indians vs. AAs by their look and minor activities. Indians are darker and we describe them as red. AAs are yellow. As written above, there are many things AAs do that Indians don’t. On the topic of music, there are two different genres of music: Indian music and asian music, separating the two factions. Also, if you go to India, you will find that most of the population understands English. Many AAs can’t speak English. When I think about Indians, I see someone like Dhalsim from Street Fighter. When I think about asians, I think of Jackie Chan. Really… not much difference anyway :]

So… are Indians asian or not? Yes, they are. Indians are asian, but when you talk about Chinese, Japanese, or Korean people, you exclude Indians.
