Relieving Stress for Asians

Stressed out? Here’s some ways you can avoid being too tired and grumpy!

Path 1: Relieving Stress

Just kidding! But the thing is, if you’re too stressed out, you may need some time to just do… nothing! Studying and working out is good, of course, but rest is even better. Here are some real tips to help you succeed:

  1. Read a book. Not a textbook. Try an anime or a mystery book. Or even a science fiction book. Something that will help you not think about work for a while.
  2. Eat. This is what makes people fat, but if you’re working your butt off so hard that you’re starving, stop and go eat.
  3. Play with your friends. Most likely, you’re going to feel a lot better, even if you wasted some time.
  4. Sing a song. If you’re really tired, trying singing to What a Wonderful World by Louis Armstrong. You can listen to the music in the Wavegate to on the right. Don’t know the lyrics? What a Wonderful World Lyrics. If you don’t want something as serious, try Banana Phone! You can also find it in the Wavegate.
  5. Go outside, take a walk, and breath in some fresh air. If you’ve been working on the computer too long, or have cramped up your hands writing, sometimes it’s good to even just stand outside and breath deeply.
  6. Sleep. If you’re tired, sleep. It’s not that hard.
  7. Laugh. This could mean watching something funny on TV, or playing with your children or friends, or reading a funny book, or just laughing at your stress to scare it away. Trust me, laughing is truly a miracle medicine.

Are Indians Asian?

This is a question I thought would benefit a lot of people if I answer them. To me, this question is a bit of a conundrum, because yes, they are asian, but we don’t think of them as asian. For one, they don’t follow a lot of the guidelines in How to Be Asian. They don’t drink tea, they don’t draw, they don’t eat ramen. They don’t read anime. They don’t even speak the same way we do. The “authentic” asian countries, such as China, Japan, Korea, Thailand, etc. all have similar languages. But Indians didn’t jump on the Chinese train and ignored it. However, Chinese were the ones that took Buddhism from India. A lot of things that influence “asianism” originated from India, but we don’t recognize them. Indians have the same determination as authentic asians (hereby known as AAs) and even AAs eat curry.

So, we can only describe Indians vs. AAs by their look and minor activities. Indians are darker and we describe them as red. AAs are yellow. As written above, there are many things AAs do that Indians don’t. On the topic of music, there are two different genres of music: Indian music and asian music, separating the two factions. Also, if you go to India, you will find that most of the population understands English. Many AAs can’t speak English. When I think about Indians, I see someone like Dhalsim from Street Fighter. When I think about asians, I think of Jackie Chan. Really… not much difference anyway :]

[哎呀] Look how amazing Jackie Chan is: Cinemassacre’s Top 10 Jackie Chan Stunts… Wow!

So… are Indians asian or not? Yes, they are. Indians are asian, but when you talk about Chinese, Japanese, or Korean people, you exclude Indians.

How to be Asian

Well, I’ve been thinking awhile… I’m asian, and basically, half of the world’s population is asian too. However, there is still the other half that isn’t. What I’m about to talk to you now is about asian stereotypes and what makes asians different from everyone else. If any of this is offensive to anyone, tell me and I’ll forget what you said.

  1. Eat ramen (in Korean, ramyun. remember that). You can call this noodle soup if you want. Even if it’s not that good for you, nothing beats a cheap package of ramen. You can eat this for any meal, but preferably lunch. I like the spicy korean ones.
  2. Use chopsticks. There’s really nothing too hard about it. If you don’t know how, learn how. If you’re not asian, it’ll make you seem more asian than if you learn how to say Chinese.
  3. Play the piano and the violin. Nothing beats telling your friends, “Sorry, I can’t go. I have piano practice.”
  4. If you’re a girl, you’ll need to play the flute, too.
  5. Read and watch anime. A good way is to start by watching Naruto. Check out my pages on the side. Even better, go to a nearby library and look for anime books. Find one and get addicted fast!
  6. Draw like a pro. Use shading with pencils and charcoal. If you’re bored in class, draw something really cool (like something from an anime) and show it to your friends. Please note that you actually have to be good at drawing. Ask your parents to find an asian art teacher so you can learn how to draw like an asian.
  7. Drink tea. Tea may seem expensive, but it’ll pay off. Remember, asians don’t drink coffee - they drink tea. Also, if you really want to be healthy, stay away from sodas. All they will cause is give you a fat belly and weak muscles. Try drinking water. Boiled water is good, as it soothens your body.
  8. Buy educational software and books. When I say books, I mean that they should be packed with information and have thousands of puzzling problems for you to solve. If it says “…will make learning fun!” then toss it away immediately.
  9. Become a mental math wizard. Asians have sharp minds. They could do math problems in their head easily. Learning to use an abacus will help greatly. What’s 167 times 14?
  10. Know how to hold a ping-pong paddle (note that asians say ping-pong, not table tennis). If you don’t know yet, learn how here: How to Grip the Paddle in Table Tennis. I’m not sure, but traditionally asians use the “Shake Hands” grip. It’s what I use.
  11. Play badminton. Asians have a hard time playing any other sport, so they count on badminton. But don’t think it’s easy. Remember, you’re playing against other asians.
  12. Take things to the end. My father told me a story: “I once took a test. In the testing room, there were caucasian students, chinese students, and japanese students. Students of all races, and they were all the smartest students. On the test, there was one problem, and we had 15 minutes to finish it. After three minutes, all the caucasian students gave up and left. All the asians stayed for the entire 15 minutes, even if they had not figured out the question.” That sums up the personalities of asians and white people. We’re a hard-headed people.
  13. Try to learn a martial arts. Even if you can’t, it will help you greatly when you become older, especially Taichi. If you live in an asian area, it won’t be hard to find teachers that would teach you martial arts, no matter how old you are. Remember, some popular martial arts are Kung Fu and Taekwondo.
  14. Be at the top of your class. This is one of the most important ones of all. It may be a stereotype, but from experience, I say, “asians are smart.” Not all of them, but most of them are. If you’re not gifted as a genius, you will have to work really hard to become one, because asians are geniuses.
  15. Don’t be the teacher’s pet. Doing so will not make you more asian. Leave that to people that try to be top of the class, but can’t because they are not smart enough. You should be at the top of the class without kissing up to your teacher.
  16. When someone asks you, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” answer, “a doctor.
  17. More will come… If you comment, I will even add it to this list!

Remember, if you follow these guidelines, you will definitely live an asian’s life. Remember, an asian life is clean, healthy, and well-thought out. It has a clear goal, and objectives along the way. Asians try to be the best, even if they can’t.

Waves

A light and foggy beachline, as if in an elf wonderland, bringing us the winds and water and life of the entire world and beyond, and to stand there, looking out, and wonder.

Sunset

When one man sees the sunset, it is as if the glowing embers of the life would be drown away, leaving peace and droplets of water, and over an ocean of thrifting forces, be set upon the Earth.
